The actions of these organizations subsequently affects the livelihood of the surrounding organisms. Corporate social responsibility is a way in which companies give back to the society. Many multinational organizations engage in these CSR activities by outsourcing to third world nations. An example of such an organization is the General Motors, which is committed to creating inclusive solutions to social issues affecting communities around the world. The company engages in various philanthropic activities including providing STEM education, climate equity, and community development. Whereas these actions help to promote the local culture of the countries that receive such donations, the negative aspect of such contributions is that it leads to global stratification.
Global stratification refers to the hierarchical arrangement of individuals and groups in the society around the world. This concept affects local culture based on the wealth of the countries involved. For wealthy nations, the stratification increases the standard of living whereas for lowly industrialized nations, whose living standards are low, it may increase the economic vulnerability of such nations. The multinational organizations outsource some of their services to the developing nations in search of low production costs and also to develop such countries. These efforts have a positive impact on the developing nation but a negative effect on the wealthy states.
