Write an Executive Summary. You will then summarize the case study. Your EXSUM will focus on the historical case study but will be supported by other research you conduct to support your findings. Cite at least one reference. The goal of the EXSUM is to give you a tool to use throughout your career when summarizing events. The case studies will allow you to see how the actors represented or embodi these current competencies. Late submission subtract 10 points per day. The NCO-C3 major topic areas include operations where leaders of every rank are required to demonstrate the initiative required to assume risks while capitalizing on emerging opportunities under chaotic, ambiguous conditions. Some of competencies under this topic area are troop leading procedures, joint operations, warfighting functions/combat power, multi-domain operations, military decision-making process. The case study provided in “The Leadership Imperative: A Case Study in Mission Command” highlights several failings in the hypothetical vignette. The company commanders are limited by the micromanagement of the command and control philosophy: they are unable to seize the opportunity of assessing and disseminating gathered intelligence after a successful operation (Meyer, 2014). This indecision and inability of the company leaderships to perceive and execute the next step causes further confusion down the ranks.
