Select a scholarly journal article ( not older than 2017) relevant to the course regarding Homeland security or Homeland Defense. You will conduct an article review of that scholarly journal article. It must be related to the course or course materials but should not be one of the provided course readings. The intent is for students to do some external research away from the provided references and find an article in AMU/APUS Library. Students should search the library’s databases, such as ProQuest, EbscoHost, and others, to find scholarly or peer-reviewed articles. Web address, blogs, new sites are not scholarly. Stick to what you find in one of the journal search engine in the library.
Additionally, the review of the journal article is an evaluation of the article’s strengths, weaknesses, and validity. It is used to inform of the article’s value through your explanation, interpretation, and analysis. As you do this, use these major focus areas that are central to the review process….. HOWEVER DO NOT MAKE THIS A SHORT Q&A. These questions are a GUIDE, not headers, for a SINGLE NARRATIVE. If you submit a short Q&A you will fail this assignment.
I am asking for a graduate level analysis.
1. What is the purpose of this article?
2. Why is it important to investigate or examine the subject of the article?
3. How are the authors carrying out the task? Are their methods and comments appropriate and adequate to the task?
4. What do they claim to have found out? Are the findings clearly stated?
5. How does this advance knowledge in the field?
Hint: These would make really good section titles for your paper.
Your work should consist of:
. Introduction ( this will have a well- defined purpose statement in your intro paragraph that provides guidance to the reader about what you are going to cover in your paper )
. Body ( feel free to use sub-section headings as needed HOWEVER these are not to match your framing questions)
.Conclusion ( this wraps up the key points of your work and brings your paper to a logical conclusion)
Technical Requirements
. Your paper must be a MAXIMUM of 5 pages ( Title and Reference pages do not count towards the limit).
. A peers reviewed journal article should be used.
. Other references may be used, but only to support the review of the primary journal article.
Type in Times New Roman, 12 point and double space.
. Students will follow the current APA Style as the sole citation and reference style used in written work submitted as part of coursework.
. Point will be deducted for the use of Wikipedia or encyclopedia type sources. It is highly advised to utilize books, peer reviewed journals, articles, archived documents, etc.
. All submissions will be graded using the assignment rubric.

Journal Article Review
Homeland security has remained a fundamental aspect of the different departments mandated with the responsibility of deterring terrorism-related threats in the United States since the 9/11 attack. According to McEntire (2018), the government has implemented diverse programs and channeled significant funding to support the various institutions advancing homeland security agendas. These efforts have enabled the stakeholders to achieve important milestones, improving the nation’s security status. Despite these gains, a general awareness exists that the terrorism threat remains unabated, demanding that institutions stay alert and prepared to counteract any potential hazards. Among the many activities and responsibilities outlined in the homeland security act is the information-sharing mechanisms that determine the effectiveness among the diverse players in homeland security. Different researchers have identified loopholes in this realm, leading to studies exploring emerging aspects to provide recommendations for improvements. One of these is the research by Lambert (2019) investigating the information-sharing challenges using “Kotter’s Leading Change Model.” Thus, this article review analyses the purpose of the study, the importance of examining the subject, approaches used, emerging results, and the impact of the findings on the homeland security field.
Research Concept
The Lambert (2019) article seeks to uncover the diverse gaps in homeland security information sharing. The author comprehensively presents the status quo in the sector by exposing the various barriers that make it challenging for the local and state players to share critical intelligence seamlessly. It achieves this goal by illustrating that fundamental intra-agency and interagency problems, including structural complexities and the absence of appropriate intelligence function, contribute to these difficulties. The researcher focuses on providing a roadmap to ending these barriers by introducing John Kotter’s organizational change model. This consideration arises from the recognition that the security departments need to reorganize themselves in the information-sharing domain to improve the overall security status of the nation. Lambert acknowledges that despite the achievements so far, robust intelligence sharing is critical for assisting the government in advancing and eradicating terrorist threats in the future.
One of the primary strengths of this research article is that the author provides a comprehensive problem statement to underscore the issue’s urgency. Lambert (2019) emphasizes the ongoing criticism targeting information sharing between different homeland security departments. He notes that although this issue has received past attention, the focus has failed to go beyond the national perspective. As a result, other critical areas or levels remain undermined or unexplored, yet they play a significant role in the overall effectiveness of homeland security. In this context, McEntire (2018) adds that homeland security is a complex endeavor that require...
