Introduction It is often believed that the United States has the least reliable social welfare system as compared to states like Canada, India, China, England, and others. As a result, poverty in this country is not being addressed properly. In the 1990s, the Welfare Reform Act was introduced that aimed to help poor and needy people get well-paying jobs. Before this reform, the government used to provide limited financial support to low-income families. II.
