It is a cartoon that played with the psychology of those who could see it, as it seemed to be a very powerful way to convince people that the thirteen colonies could not function if they didn’t unite. To depict this, Benjamin Franklin used a cartoon of a snake in pieces, where the abbreviations of the colonies were used as labels of the parts. In this depiction, it is very clear that Franklin emphasizes death, possibly in a way to scare the people into uniting.

Samuel Adams showed his feelings toward American independence by thoroughly supporting the independence of the colonies through writing and propaganda.
