One of the main reasons why politicians use Gerrymandering is because it is an effective tool to shape the electoral results to their favor. In reality, even legislative districts are divided between various politicians and political parties, among others. Thus, even within one's home state or community, there is always the risk of losing to one's opponent. Nonetheless, since there's usually a significant difference in support and votes between each community, district, or even region, politicians can use Gerrymandering to limit the borders of an electoral constituency to groups or clusters that support their cause more compared to their opponents CITATION Den15 \l 1033 (Denniston, 2015).
