1 Explain why politicians utilize Gerrymandering. Next, give some reasons as to why critics of Gerrymandering believe that it is an undemocratic tool.
One of the main reasons why politicians use Gerrymandering is because it is an effective tool to shape the electoral results to their favor. In reality, even legislative districts are divided between various politicians and political parties, among others. Thus, even within one's home state or community, there is always the risk of losing to one's opponent. Nonetheless, since there's usually a significant difference in support and votes between each community, district, or even region, politicians can use Gerrymandering to limit the borders of an electoral constituency to groups or clusters that support their cause more compared to their opponents CITATION Den15 \l 1033 (Denniston, 2015).
Accordingly, it is also the very nature of Gerrymandering that makes it an undemocratic tool.
