iscussion Board Guidelines:
**Do not select a question from the article/chapter you were assigned to for your ReQLI**
When you post the question you've selected, post your answer to the question as a response to your selected question post.
Include the question, or paraphrase each question when preparing your response. Post your response to the discussion board for your peers to read. If you choose to, you can add your post as a word attachment for APA 7th edition formatting to be fairly evaluated.
Be sure to answer each part of the question, do not omit any part of the question, this can result in loss of points.
Question responses should be substantial and thought provoking to encourage discussion within our learning community. Response posts should be to a question that has not yet had a response.
You MUST include external sources to support all of your posts, do not simply refer to the textbook. You can use practice experiences as a part of your response, however please be sure to substantiate your response with the literature. Required references include a minimum of two articles from peer reviewed journals that are listed in the module resources or of your choosing. You can also cite the Selekman et al. (2019) textbook readings as a third resource. Additional resources are welcome. You can always include more as appropriate to your discussion.
There is only one required response post, however you are encouraged to respond to more than one post to enhance the discussion.
Your response is not limited to or required to have a minimal amount of required words. However as a graduate learner, your post should be substantial and add depth and breadth to the discussion. Superficial responses are not acceptable and will not add value to the discussion. I trust that all learners will meet this objective with no problem, I thank you all in advance for your compliance with this guideline.
APA 7th ed. format MUST be used for parenthetical citations, narrative citations and references. APA resources are available to you in the APA and Library Resources folder. You can also refer to the APA 7th edition manual or to the Purdue OWL website: https://owl(dot)purdue(dot)edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_style_introduction.html

Question Response
What role does the school nurse have in keeping track of students with special needs who are frequently overlooked when it comes to dental care?
The central role of the school nurse is to safeguard the health of all students so that they are ready to learn (Yonkaitis & Shannon, 2017). This role ensures that every student has access to the necessary healthcare services (Johnson, 2017). For students with special needs whose dental care has been overlooked, the nurse has to connect the student with dental health resources, including dentist services and oral hygiene education (Crawford & Whitehead, 2019). The school nurse must maintain records of these students and check on them regularly to ensure they receive the required dental care.
In 2006, an estimated 9 in 1000 children had autism. In 2014, an estimated 16.8 in 1000 children had autism. What could be the cause of increased autism? Is it an increase in awareness or another factor?
The cause of increased cases of children with autism can be attributed to several factors contributing to an increased autism diagnosis. According to Zablotsky et al. (2019), there has been an increase in parental awareness about autism in the last decade, increasing the number of children diagnosed with autism. In addition, there have been changes in practices whereby screening for autism occurs as early as the child is 18 months. Further, changes in the criteria for autism diagnosis in the last decade have increased catch-up diagnoses in older children (Zablotsky et al., 2019). All these factors have increased autism cases.
When is pharmacological intervention considered appropriate for the ID student, and what should the nurse monitor? What are the goals?
