As the largest single group of health care providers, nurses have the many opportunities to impact healthcare policy. There are multiple ways to advocate and to impact nursing, ranging from simply making a phone call or writing a letter expressing your opinion on a healthcare issue of importance, to running for public office.
To further impact health care policy, students will contact their legislator in the Illinois House or their home state for the purpose of sharing information regarding nursing and health related issues. Submit evidence of your efforts. Also, obtain a copy of the Handbook for Illinois Government or your state government and provide evidence to professor. . Illinois has significantly improved healthcare services for its citizens through various policies. However, the issue of the nursing shortage has largely remained unexplored, undermined, or ignored.
