Kate Chopin is a realistic and naturalistic literary artist. Désirée’s Baby is one of her most well-known works with objective, paradoxical and ironic themes. The rejection of romanticism is the biggest event of the realism movement; she is considered an influencing realist for opposing romantic ideas through her writing. Kate Chopin is a well-known artist of her age contributing to humanities by recording arts, history, and literature parallel to realism.
Kate Chopin is a short story author from the age of realism and naturalism, famous for her novel “The Awakening” and many short stories like “Désirée’s Baby.” When arts and literature experienced a realistic movement, introducing an objective approach to writing. It was the time when literary artists rejected romanticism and emphasized reality in fiction without supernatural elements. Notably, the artists tend to show the working class and low-status communities with real emotions and everyday problems in the poetry and prose. As it was an age of the industrial revolution, fiction depicted its impacts ironically and paradoxically. The artists also used regionalism to highlight the sufferings of ordinary people from a specific region.
