Evidence-based practitioners integrate the understanding of the disease, illness, and health science with the nursing art of adapting care to each patient and context while applying critical thinking to enhance patient outcomes. EBP integrates patient values, clinical expertise, and external evidence to make clinical decisions (Ginex, 2018). Therefore, nurses should consider science along with their clinical experience and patient beliefs, preferences, and values.
Creating a practical search strategy entails submitting clinical queries and arranging the research question into the PICO framework. The second component involves selecting a database centered on a specific criterion. The third aspect is building the search strategy to determine the research topic breath. This step includes search terms, subject heading, and synonyms, and alternative terms. Other components include adding truncation, using Boolean operators to integrate search concepts and terms, and adding a systematic review filter (Ho et al., 2016).
