The use of alcohol and tobacco products, including smoking has been known to have devastating effects on the developing fetus. Mothers who have been known to drink during pregnancy often give birth to children with numerous physical and cognitive deformations. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a disorder affecting children born from alcoholic mothers. Children suffering from FASD have multiple mental and physical deformities; they are born with tiny heads and underdeveloped features.
