Dear Hiring Manager;
I am excited to present my application to (organization's name) as a prospective candidate for your esteemed organization for a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) position. I have always wished to be part of your organization due to your high reputation for offering the utmost personalized care and better patient outcomes. I believe my addition to the team will further benefit the organization, as I am highly skilled, passionate, and knowledgeable about the position.
Professional Statement
I am an experienced RN nurse passionate about mental health care. I am studying at Herzing University to become an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN). I completed my MSN program in 2013 at Walden University and my BSN in 2007 at Coppin State University. I am committed to staying up to date with the changes in the health scope, creating one of my beliefs in a continuous learning agenda. In addition to my educational qualifications, I am currently working as an RN care coordinator at the VA Maryland health care system. I am part of the interdisciplinary team to review community care consults, screen, triage, and coordinate care needs for the referral and other identified needs. I am also responsible for providing patient education to veterans and community providers as they navigate through obtaining care. From 2020 to 2022, I worked as a transfer coordinator, facilitating the transfer of veterans through intra and inter-transfers. Other job roles I have held include being a clinical fee reviewer, case management personnel, and part of the ICU team. As of this year, I have worked for three years with the veterans at Maryland Healthcare System and realized that mental health issues among veterans are increasing daily. A Veteran Affairs report reveals that 11% of all veterans have been associated with at least one mental health issue (US Department of Veteran Affairs, 2023). However, the number remains unknown because some do not seek medical attention, accounting for the statistics. I believe this job suits me because of my exposure to caring for them. Besides my educational and professional backgrounds, I ensure that I am conversant with all the policies regulating the medical scope. My previous job roles have exposed me to the clinical scope and have made me acquire different skills, such as leadership skills, critical thinking, and medical administration. I have also learned the art of teamwork, as my various roles exposed me to the same. As a registered Nurse, I am eager to provide conscientious and integrity-driven quality care, emphasizing the comprehensive application of enduring solutions for quantifiable focuses, all while providing patient-centered outcomes.
Definition of PMHNP role
First, I completely understand my role and responsibilities in practice, as my roles involve performing assessments, which can be either intake assessments, diagnosing, or developing individualized treatment plans. The treatment plans include prescribing medication, psychotherapy, or recommending any other appropriate clinical interventions (American As...
