In Figure 1 (above), communication, a central professional issue for current purposes, assumes a central focus of a mind map aimed to provide, as clear as possible, issue’s (operating) environment. Primarily, communication, as a professional issue is a function of four main dependencies, shown in circles, including (not necessarily according to importance): Leadership, Integration, Morale and Collaboration. These dependencies, if properly administered and maintained, are apt to result in solid outcomes which, for current purposes, are limited for only one for each dependency. For Leadership, “Skill Development” is expected; for Integration, “Organizational Consistencies”; for Morale, “Moral Development”; and for Collaboration, “Communication Consistencies.” The dependencies as well as expected outcomes merit more detail.
For Leadership, clearly commanders need to provide for an environment where subordinates are, first, initiated into service and, later, develop leadership skills. To do so, communication is critical in order to ensure commanders and subordinates are aligned to, or at least have minimal misunderstanding, requirements for mission activities.
