The first semester I did not receive any credit for GPA, so the second semester, I must get over 2.0 GPA to be able to continue study in This university, but I did not get 2.0, so now I am going to be dismissed from this Univerity, this apeal is the only chance to let me stay in this University. 1 Describe the extenuating circumstances that you believe contributed to your failure to meet the minimum academic expectations during each semester in which you were not academically successful.
The first reason that contributed to my failure is my poor understanding of the English language. All the papers are set in English, and my poor understanding of the language makes it difficult for me to understand and grasp what is required. While I did perform well in some papers, Microeconomics and Writing and Critical Inquiry, I found myself struggling with the others. Understanding the English language is a big part of performing well because one can understand the questions and formulate answers quite easily. However, even with the understanding of the concepts, it becomes a mountainous task to answer questions when a student does not understand what is being asked. So, I believe this partly contributed to my failure.
Secondly, I believe that my laxity, as well as lack of belief in myself, contributed to my failure as well. My confidence appears to be tainted in that I do not believe in myself enough to expose my needs and weaknesses. Exposing my needs and weaknesses is the first step towards me finding a way to work on my weaknesses. However, the pressure to perform as well as the fear to expose what others may find laughable prevented me from working on what would have made a difference in my grades. Being confident in oneself is being able to appreciate what can and cannot do. This means that I have to be able to say where I am weak and seek help from those who are willing to give it.
