Structured Self-Development Reflection Paper
Structured Self Development (SSD) is a web-based course that is required for all soldiers at every stage of their careers. Because of its flexibility, it is seen as a self-learning process that students can do whenever and wherever they choose. The soldier must pass each stage of training before moving on to the next one and becoming a soldier. It establishes the prerequisites for a soldier to have lifelong learning that they can apply when they take charge of their own squad as a commander (Tradoc, n.d.). The soldier is also the focus of this training, which will help them perform at their best when they are on the battlefield or serving the national interest of defending the nation from foreign invasions.
This training can be difficult, as with any army obligation, but I think the information and experience I've learned have helped me become a far more trustworthy person. I've learned during my military training at the academy I've chosen that joining the army demands more than just a physically fit body; one must also pass SSD level 1 before proceeding to the Basic Leaders Course, which is the first level of sergeant school (Anders, 2018). These can teach me and all of my subordinates a priceless lesson that will last a lifetime and enable us to survive in the army mentally. In order to successfully complete the Advanced Leaders Course (ALC) or the second-level sergeant school, a soldier will then advance to SSD 2, the level that comes after the first.
This is why a soldier must also mentally prepare for this kind of experience. The military is quite distressing since the training seniors offer to their students is tough and can occasionally cause the weak-minded to fracture and leave the army. I can attest that it is pretty simple to go home and change careers, but when I consider that this is also a component of the training the school provides us with in order for us to grow strong, I am always inspired to keep going.
As I advanced through the SSD training, I discovered that in order to enroll in the Senior Leaders Course (SLC), which is the third level Sergeants school and near to the fourth level of the SSD training, a soldier must complete the third level of the Structured Self Development (SSD 3).
