The article “Mindfulness Training helps Teens Cope with Stress and Anxiety” published in The Washington Post describes how mindfulness classes are being introduced in American schools (Wozniacka, 2014). Most of the classes focus on mindfulness, meditation, and yoga to alleviate stress, anxiety, and even depression. The article points out that given that high school teens often face peer pressure, emotional changes, and hormonal changes, such issues become the onset of mental illness for some of these children. In this way, the mindfulness training is being introduced as a way of giving kids a way of dealing with stress without causing any destruction or harming themselves.
