Anita Mui's artistry remains significant even though it is more than eighteen years since her demise. The performer starred in about forty films and featured in numerous others. However, her most substantial and remarkable impact is the music she produced, recorded, and performed. The nature of her performance depicts a high level of professionalism and mastery in music. Although Mui is from Hong Kong, she was admired throughout the globe, especially in Asia. It is rare to find a person who remains in the entertainment because of her love for music and performance rather than the pursuit of economic freedom. However, the last concert that Mui performed illustrated her undying devotion to using music as a tool for uplifting and teaching the masses about the twists, turns, and wisdom of life.
Interestingly, Mui was terminally sick while performing the last concert, but she endured to sing to the last song: "Cherish When We Meet Again." She was suffering from cervical cancer but invited fans, friends, and relatives to share her last treasured moments in the context of a concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum. However, the bleeding did not stop her from performing. Her motto was that she married the stage. Thus, it is necessary to preserve Mui as a performer because of her strive for voice perfection, extraordinary performances, kindness/charity, and devotion to teach and uplift audiences. Mui had one of the best voices to experience regardless of the genre a person preferred or sang. Her songs were slow-paced and heavily employed Chinese traditional instruments such as the bamboo flute, guzheng, dizi, and hulusi. However, focusing on traditional music did not make her songs boring, outdated, or irrelevant across different demographics. The attractiveness and relevance of her songs derived from the fact that she stole the audience's attention from the instruments and sounds. Her smooth and, arguably, stress-relieving voice made instruments secondary sources of entertainment in her performance. The voice evokes a wide range of emotions, depending on the effect she intended to teach among audience members. For instance, in the song dubbed "Song of the Setting Sun," the violin sound at the beginning of the music temporarily creates a somber mood. However, when Mui sings in a deep alto, the radiation of positive energy alleviates sadness and invites a celebration. Moreover, Mui's voice was independent of the context of her performance. As a result, the audio quality remained high when the music was either recorded or performed live. As such, an individual does not need to understand the Chinese language to recognize the performer's emotions. Hence, Mui is a pace-setter in music because of developing an influential voice despite cultural and language barriers.
