Ben and Jerry’s company decided to estimate their accomplishments not only by the amount of money they made but also by the effectiveness of their corporate social responsibility (CSR). Accordingly, the organization brought in the yearly social analysis leading innovations like recycling and waste cutbacks to improve its ecological footprint (SundaceTV, 2007). The decision to be mindful of the environment has had benefits to the company, such as its ice cream customers who view the firm as having an ethic (SundaceTV, 2007). Moreover, Ben and Jerry’s successfully educates the public through environmental conservation information such as on their packaging, naming of flavours, and on their website. The status of a caring society enterprise made the company profitable. The public feels that the company is considerate of them, and thus they give back by choosing the form and its products. After 25 years of individual operations in 2000, Ben and Jerry’s was bought out by Unilever, multinational cooperation but the guiding philosophy through its CSR initiatives was still maintained; thus it continued to be successful.
Predicted trends by the Navex Global in 2020 regarding CSR include political issues that are likely to be controversial but also impactful Conlin, 2020). In the U.S for instance, there continues to be a disconnect between the Trump administration and the robust scientific consensus from every authoritative institution on environmental issues, notably climate change (Feldman & Lavelle, 2020). It follows that efforts to improve CSR on ecological issues by companies like Ben and Jerry’s are likely to be hampered by the insistence of the government of the day that climate change is a hoax. As things stand, thousands of studies on climate change that prove beyond any reasonable doubt that the issue is real now hang in the balance (Feldman & Lavelle, 2020). Consequently, concerted efforts by Ben and Jerry’s company to improve people’s livelihoods may not be as successful as envisaged.
