The U.S.A currently encounters a range of economic issues that continues to derail the quality of life among her citizens. In particular, homelessness and poverty emerges as an economic issues that have dominated the U.S.A due to the increasing number of people who live in the streets. Besides homelessness, the communities also face social problems that contribute to the increasing poverty levels among the citizens. Despite the number of hardworking Americans who venture in various economy confines, financial problems still prevail due to the rising living demands, need for proper healthcare, and means of providing daily upkeep for the family and fees for the children. The case studies present Americans who are facing various economic hardships despite their engagement in different economic activities to be financially independent.
The case studies present low income as a prominent economic issue that affects most Americans due to their inability to eat their daily needs conveniently. While some people are lucky to secure employment, the salaries and wages that they are paid are not enough to manage their needs. Specifically, Supplemental Poverty Measure conducted in 2010 indicates that unemployed resort to cheaper rental residents because they cannot afford to pay their mortgages to acquire personal houses (Unites States Census Bureau 2012). Notably, Wagner and Gilman (2012) explain that the individual also strains their resources to pay their children’s education, care for other family members and purchase daily needs such as food. Hence, most of them resort to credit shops to meet their daily expenses thus plunging them into more credits. Additionally, the people presented in the case studies face economic challenges resulting from various work-related expenses such as fuelling their cars, paying for commuting services and other childcare services. The expenses strain their resources hence leading them to borrow from various lending bureau, friends and family hence plunging into more debts.
