Professional Musical: Phantom of the Opera

Movie Review Instructions:

For this assignment, research the productions that you are going to watch during the semester (hopefully you've been thinking about this already and you have an idea of some of the shows you'd like to see). Remember, you can see as many shows as you want to during the course of the semester, but for the purposes of your "Show Responses" you must see at least one of each of the following:
1. Professional Musical (A production of a musical done on Broadway, Off Broadway, or in a Regional Theater).
2. Professional Strait Play (A production of a strait play done on Broadway, Off Broadway, or in a Regional Theater).
3. Educational Play (A production of a musical or straight play produced by a university theater program or a high school theater program. There are many other kinds of theater that could fit into this category (a production done by an acting conservatory, a production done by an after school city drama class, etc.). For the purpose of the assignment, you'll be safe if you stick with university and high school productions. However, if you find an interesting production that you think might count as an Educational Play that is not a university or high school production, before you submit the Show Selection Assignment, you're welcome to email me to ask if it will work.).
4. Community Theater (A production of a musical or strait play produced by a community theater - a theater company run and operated by volunteers).
5. Theatrical Event (A theatrical production that does not easily fit into any of the categories above. Here are a few examples: Blue Man Group, Stomp, Sleep No More).
To complete this assignment, research and decide on one of each of the above productions that you will attend this semester. Create a document (.doc, .docx, or .pages), and in this document include the following information for each of the above categories:
The category (Professional Musical, Professional Strait Play, Educational Play, or Community Theater).
The name of the production.
The name of the theater where you will attend this production.
The location of the theater (city, state, and any other information that you feel would be helpful).
The date that you will attend the production (you may include an approximate date if you are waiting to purchase tickets).
A website for the production, theater, or company.
Remember, you must provide the above information for each of the 5 categories. Once you have completed this assignment you may still change your mind about what show you want to see, but if you do change your mind you must submit the above information for the show you are switching to in an email to me.
You may wish to look over the lecture "Broadway and Beyond" to help you to determine what productions will fit into each category. Your paper does not need to be formal. You can fill out all of the information like an outline or in bullet format.
If all five of your submissions fulfill the requirement for each of the five individual categories you will receive 100% on the assignment. For instance, if you submit a show to count towards your Professional Strait Play category and I inform you that it's actually a Professional Musical, you will lose 20 of the 100 points for the assignment. Once you submit an appropriate alternative I will give you some of those points back, but only some of them.

Show Selection Assignment
The production that I will attend this semester is a professional musician. The Phantom of the Opera is widely regarded as one of the most emotionally stimulating musicals in history. Based on Gaston Leroux's novel of the same title, the musical tells the story of a young soprano who becomes the love interest of a forlorn and murderous musical genius inhabiting the labyrinth beneath the Paris Opera House (Yow, 1991). The phantom haunts the opera using secret passages beneath the building.
The longest-running show in Broadway history is the recipient of several Tony awards owing to its spectacular production, particularly its memorable scores (Riedel, 2022). The musical, praised for its meticulous attention to detail, excellent writing, and psychological insight, is a Broadway staple. The show has inspired several screen adaptations that borrow the same plot but engage with different key Freudian concepts to explain the phantom's motivation (Biancorosso, 2018). I will attend the production at the Majestic Theatre. The Broadway theater is situated at 245...
