Ancient Mysteries
The ancient mystery I selected is the death of Tutankhamun. Scientists have long debated Tut's death, and there is still no particular explanation to this date. Like many Egyptian kings, Tut ascended the throne a boy. Also, like most of the Egyptian Kings who ascended the throne as boys, he did not reign for long. His short-lived reign and suspicious composition of his remains have for long fueled questions regarding the cause of his death.
One of the theories many scientists use to explain his death is the broken leg theory. According to this theory, Tut fell from his chariot and broke his leg above the kneecap (Ancient Near East, 2014). Later, he developed an infection where his leg had broken, which worsened and ultimately led to his death (Ancient Near East, 2014). Many scientists have supported this theory because out of all his body parts, only the broken leg provided an apparent reason for his death. The second theory suggests that Tut died of epilepsy.
