The video highlights the story of the Mayans, an ancient kingdom that was thought to be one of the world's first civilized societies. The film gives an in-depth view of what characterized the world of the Mayans. The narrator starts by highlighting the activities that this group of people carried out. Their lives were simple and mostly depended on hunting and agriculture (Ancient Civilizations Documentary). The Mayans were sophisticated in that they recorded all the events that happened in their lives. This is evident in the archeological records retrieved by the narrator in Spain. Apart from keeping their records, the Mayans excelled at symbolic artwork, architectural design, pottery, and agriculture. The Mayans' stone cities after their fall give a detailed view of what characterized the kingdom. The narrator describes that the language diversity among the Mayans came in the pre-classic period. Before then, they all spoke the same language and interacted so that not many civilizations could match.
Mayans also showed high proficiency levels in city building, as evidenced in the way remains found after the fall of the kingdom. It was also evident that they were stone inscribers, according to archeological records. The Maya civilization crumbled to its foundation in the most mysterious ways, as the narrator discussed. The people slowly began to abandon the classic cities, and by the end of 900 AD, all the city was a ghost town. Several theories came up to explain the mysterious fall of the Mayans.
