Laura Cereta was an Italian writer born in 1469 in Brescia. She was born to an upper-class family as the first born of six children. Her family believed that education was very important. So, she was sent to the convent when she was seven years old. It is during her time at the convent that she started her intellectual journey. She got an interest in writing and reading, and her teacher encouraged her to pursue them to the fullest. Cereta got married in 1484 to Pietro Cerina. They two had difficulties in their marriage and it did not last for long. During her hard times, she was writing letters on different topics, and this encouraged her continue moving forward despite the challenges she was facing. She is regarded as one of the most famous Italian feminist writers of the 15th century. Cereta died at a very young age in 1499. She was 30 years old when she died.
