The three components of the United States Criminal justice system play different roles associated with law enforcement, evaluation of criminal cases, and correction of law violators. Therefore, the three components of the United Criminal justice system are law enforcement (such as police agencies and investigators), the judicial system (like magistrates, judges, and jury), and the Bureau of Corrections (mostly prisons) (Mayeux, 2018). The components are dependent on each other in that the decision made in one component about a citizen affects how the other components treat the individual. However, there is a sense of independence from each other in that they are accountable to each other in a fashion that dissuades exploitation and oppression of the people.
