Introduction
The primary goal of a healthcare facility is to deliver high-quality services to its patients and clients. Paradise Hospital Inc.’s administrator has been tasked with augmenting the value of services of the healthcare organization. Since this is an endeavor that the administration has not engaged in since commencing operations in 1995, it is important to evaluate and upgrade the health care delivery in the hospital. Patients and other hospital stakeholders anticipate that the facility would serve their best interests to ensure positive healthcare outcomes. In this context, the administrator aims to augment patient services while emphasizing care quality. This paper defines value-added services and their value to hospital services and recommends a framework for establishing functional areas that need improvement and the related information acquisition techniques to establish the functional areas. In addition, the paper also includes a description of the functional areas that can augment the value of services delivered and the justification for the value proposition.
Value-added service meaning as it pertains to patient care services and why it matters to add value to patient services
In the context of health care, where both patients and physicians are engaged, value-added service (VAS) alludes to all efforts to enhance the hospital’s general quality. VAS allows patients to have better access and lower out-of-pocket healthcare costs. EMRs are an ideal illustration of VAS since they enable patient care information to be shared between multiple physician offices, ultimately enhancing patient care and quality. Furthermore, VAS will likely encourage low-income families to obtain and maintain catastrophic health insurance coverage (Buchbinder et al., 2019). The various challenges, advancements, and competition that Paradise Hospital, Inc. encounters are the primary reasons why delivering value to patient services are crucial. These difficulties are mostly the result of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Under the ACA, hospitals that perform well may be eligible for financial incentives. These incentives are determined by health outcomes as well as patient satisfaction statistics. The ACA has the authority to penalize hospitals that underperform. In other words, if patient amenities are improved, patients will be more likely to visit such healthcare facilities in the future. Furthermore, Paradise Hospital will create a great reputation for potential clients and external stakeholders.
