The ability to initiate changes, find the best practices, and incorporate them in the nursing practice is very important to improve the overall quality of healthcare. It allows professionals and practitioners alike to create to continually improve their abilities thereby resulting in a greater assurance of the patient’s health and well-being. However, maintaining change through interventions could be a difficult task, particularly for nurse managers. In line with the PICOT statement at hand, some of the difficulties and barriers that could hinder an effective and long-lasting change are; (1) ability to translate skills learned from skill fairs to actual practice and (2) staff turnovers.
