Find a senior adult over the age of 60 willing to spend about an hour with you discussing their health and developing a plan to improve their quality of life. You can meet with them in person, over the phone, or online. This person can be a friend, family member, or acquaintance. Assure them that their information will remain confidential—and then be sure to keep that confidentiality in your assignment!

Complete the Medical Outcomes Study: 20-Item Short Form Survey Instrument (Links to an external site.) with the senior adult. You should ask the questions and enter the answers. After completing the survey, evaluate the results and identify areas of concern. Discuss the answers together, involving the senior adult in coming up with three short-term and three long-term strategies to improve their quality of life.


Write an informal paper (APA format is not required) that includes the following information:

  • A description of your interview
  • A discussion of what components of successful aging theory apply to this individual
  • A brief interpretation of the study results

Interview Overview
The interview took place in their home, and it took about two hours to finish the survey and the discussion. The interview was beneficial mostly because the environment was conducive and also because the person I was interviewing was very engaging. They were willing to go on with the interview and answer some of the questions that I had.
Components of Successful Aging Theory
There are three components of ageing successfully. They include; engaging with life, full optimization of an individual’s physical capability and avoiding disability and diseases (Rowe& Kahn, 1961). The individual that I was interviewing can engage with life, and also their biological function is fully optimized even though they are elderly.
Results Interpretation
They go ahead to explain that when they were young, they were very active and exercised a lot, and that is what allows them to take on some responsibilities that other older adults cannot undertake. The individual can still take on some tasks that have proven to be a problem to other older people are unable to.
Areas of Concern
However, there are certain areas of concern that I noticed, and they include:
