Reflection on Nurse Bullying and Importance of Interprofessional Collaboration

Week 1
Regarding my capstone project on bullying, I will able to identify the manner in which novice nurses are usually bullied in the workplace. I have come up with solutions to reduce or eradicate the issue of bullying. The project has played a substantial role in discovering my skills as a medical practitioner. I feel competent that I can be able to identify and solve a nursing problem in the future. As well will also be in a position to meet all the competencies aligned for my future courses effectively through the experience that I will gain from this course. Therefore, based on leadership and economic models, intraprofessional collaboration, ethical considerations in healthcare, healthcare delivery, and clinical systems, my practice immersion will help me in gaining a lot of knowledge and skills.
Week 2
Through the research process, I have realized that the nursing profession is facing a lot of challenges that need to be addressed in order to ensure that nurses accord quality healthcare to the patients. For instance, the issue of bullying is making the workplace unconducive for novice nurses. The outcome of this is that the novice nurses will not be in a position to accord good care to the patients. In most cases, they are fresh graduates from college and, therefore, they require a lot of experience in order to be able to perform complex medical procedures on their own. In addition, they require the supervision of the senior nurses to carry out the minor producers. Until they have perfected on such procedures, they should not be allowed to attend to patients without supervision.
Week 3
Throughout the project, I realized that bullying is a common act in most of the hospitals and, action needs to be taken because it is the patients that suffer. The research also shows that the novice nurses are afraid of reporting such cases for fear of being bullied even more. This brings out a worry about my first years in the field of practicing my profession. I hope that the current economic and leadership models will have considered the issue of bullying and come up with a lasting solution. This will also motivate more students into joining the career of nursing as compared to the current situation whereby most of the high school students think that the hospitals do not provide a conducive work environment.
Week 4
As well, the project has made me realize that I have a strength of problem-solving. I was able to identify the fact that hospitals are facing the challenge of nurse bullying. I did deep research and, was able to analyze my findings into coming up with a solution to the problem. I believe that if the hospitals implement my solutions, then a great change can be made, hence, making the work environment conducive for all level of nurses. On the large picture, the patients will be able to receive good quality healthcare.
