Problem
The problem being addressed is understanding whether Adam's closed-loop theory has an effect on the learning direction and extent of movement. This is because it claims that creating two distinct cognitive systems is required to comprehend simple, self-paced, graded motions.
Purpose
The purpose of the study is to identify whether the perceptual trace of past movements governs the extent of movement. This is because the theory argues that the memory trace is a "modest motor program" that works only to identify the direction of a movement. Given that the theory has received very little investigation, the purpose of this study is to determine the validity of the assumption that feedback stimulus is responsible for imprinting the perceptual trace. As a result, another goal of the research is to examine the theory once more, but this time with a different complicated defining motion, one in which orientation and extent are determinants.
Hypothesis
The study has several hypotheses. One of them is that the independent memory states are the perceptual and the memory trace. The other is that the degree of rehearsal on the threshold motion is favorable for understanding the trajectory and breadth of a basic, self-paced, graded motion. This theory is supposed to hold, as per Adams, if the response is instructive about the movement's key features.
