COVID-19 in Italy
Italy confirmed 12462 cases and 827 deaths from the virus by 11 Mar 2020. However, medical reports in the country show that most of the people succumbing to the infection suffered from other chronic illnesses such as cancer and diabetes (Remuzzi and Remuzzi, 1225). Some cases originated from prior smoking behaviors. Hence, the Italian government instated strict measures to curb the spread of the virus, “including restricting movement in the region of Lombardy—that intended to minimize the likelihood that people who are not infected come into contact with people who are infected (Remuzzi and Remuzzi 1225).” Although the action should have aided, it was not enough considering the increased number of infections in the country. The government declared total lockdown to enact social distancing and less spread of the virus as well

In January, Wuhan reported precisely 495 cases of infected individuals. The Chinese government had to institute lockdown in the effort to minimize spread following the high numbers of infection over less than one month. Filmmakers such as Kai took the bold move of recording and also helping the staffs working in hospitals get to work following the suspension of public means of transport like the metros (BBC News). Although the individuals exposed themselves to the gender of infection, they had to stand in the gap and help the government, hospitals, and the general population in managing the virus. Some people owning cars in the country helped in the distribution of medicine and foodstuffs to the people in the city during the lockdown period (BBC News). However, despite the declaration of lockdown, the country continued reporting more cases of new infections. On 11 Mar 2020, Wuhan reported 49986 cases, 34094...
