COVID-19 was a highly infectious disease that was declared a global pandemic on 11th March 2020 by the World Health Organization (WHO). Indeed, the cause of this deadly illness was the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). Specifically, the COVID-19 pandemic adversely affected different aspects of individuals’ lives. For example, schools and companies were obliged to halt their operations due to the strict government restrictions on social distancing and staying at home. Many people got infected and others died from coronavirus. The paper focuses on why the COVID-19 pandemic has continued for an extended period, the complexity of the vaccination debate, and my experience during the outbreak, including how it affected my family, friends, and education.
In my opinion, the problem of the coronavirus pandemic has lasted for an extended duration due to numerous reasons. Besides, as of November 8, 2023, about 6,978,175 people have died from COVID-19, and 771,820,937 confirmed cases internationally. Approximately 13,534,474,309 vaccine doses were administered (World Health Organization). One of the primary reasons that the coronavirus pandemic continued for a long period is the lack of knowledge about the disease. Before COVID-19, the world had never encountered such a deadly virus with a high infection rate. On that note, scientists took time before they performed experiments and tests to understand how coronavirus was infected, how it affected people, and the most appropriate way to prevent it.
