Cemetery Visit
Over the weekend, I visited three cemeteries here in Harrisburg. Namely, they are (1) Romberger memorial, (2) Harrisburg cemetery, and (3) Paxtang Cemetery. I’m not really fond of taking tours alone in these kinds of places, thus, I invited my cousin to join me. Initially, what we did was to try to look for the caretakers of these cemeteries. This is important since in places like this one can easily get lost and, at the same time, trying to look for the oldest gravestones by ourselves seemed impossible. However, even when we tried our best to locate Romberger and Paxtang’s caretakers they’re nowhere to be found. And thus, we continued our trip all by ourselves. Upon further inspection of the gravesite, it is apparent that these designs show who the deceased is, what does he believe in, who his family members are, where he came from, etc.
In all of these three cemeteries, locating the oldest gravesites are nothing far from impossible. However, what is apparent is that Romberger and Paxtang are relatively new as compared to Harrisburg. This is because the gravestones are made out of new materials such as glossy marble with intricate designs that are apparently created digitally and the new concepts used to design these gravestones. Furthermore, what makes these designs more contemporary is the apparent presence of embellishments in the headstones such as a guitar, a computer, painting, etc. In terms of zoning, we didn’t see any big differences betw...
