Technological advancements have been fundamental in changing the nature of societies. They have improved the way people execute operations and complete tasks. Moreover, they have brought new and dynamic forms of communication. However, arguments have emerged that the grip that the various devices and their associated platforms of communication have initiated on human nature is starting to become worrying (Bani et al. 82). Although people agree that digital life has been life-changing for modern communities, many agree that it has masked a significant proportion of how individuals socialize and interact. The nature of humankind has wholly changed as technology now dictates how people disseminate and receive information. As a result, strong concerns exist about the future well-being of people.
Experts indicate that as technology becomes advanced, they gain more control over the lives of the users. In their article, Bani et al. argue that technology’s use in the present society is considered normal because of the associated ease (82). The rise of social media is one of the areas that has been widely explored for dominating modern society. Critics indicate that it has engulfed traditional communication and interaction, gradually eradicating them and making these platforms the new norm. Unlike when people valued face-to-face as an essential component of life, technology is now the primary requirement. Its capacity to spread significantly faster in communities has also led to its dominance, leading to the rise of concerns about the negative impacts. In some societies, it has triggered far-reaching consequences.
In western civilization, technology has been a blessing and a cause for alarm. For instance, it has been directly associated with increased dissemination of information, improved education, and transformation of economic and healthcare fortunes.
