Essay Instructions:

. In this response paper, I would like for you to identify and reflect on one or more common threads that you have seen emerge in these texts. How did their authors and the people who read them make sense of the divine? Why, how, when, and in what contexts did they invoke their God(s)? What, if anything, can we learn from this sample about religious communities’ relation to their “sacred texts”? Any ancient texts you have read in the class (including ancient commentaries) can be used to ground your reflection. Please cite at least two ancient texts in your response paper.

Please notice that although this paper does not require you to prove a thesis, it remains important that all your points be well-argued and that your prose be academic. This is a personal reflection, but one that needs to be sustained by sound logic and expressed through good writing. You can follow any structure in your essay, but ensure that the argumentative flow is solid.

The paper will be graded with a maximum of ten points, in .5 increments: 3 for the content, 3 for the argument, 3 for the writing, and 1 for the overall academic excellence. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I am not particularly concerned with the citation style for any item. If you wish to use direct quotes from texts read in class, you do not need to employ any formal citation style: just cite the text and the page. You are allowed to bring in external materials, but this is by no means required. Please do not have more than 100 words in your paper be a direct quote.

Instead, most of the support and help was enquired from their gods whom they occasionally worshiped. Despite all the beliefs, it proved that the gods were less superior than the God of Israel.
It is true to say that most religious communities still have a lot of norms and believes. People from a specific religion would get washed out even without looking at the basis of their main stand. They can decide as one particular religious community to believe in a particular line of gods without looking at whether what they stand for is very legit. He saw the gods trying to whitewash his destiny. Even though he went ahead to make a sacrifice of making the door of cedar to the Enlil's temple, still his expectation of favor was never accomplished by the gods (Andrew, p.54). With all the anger observed from him, Shamash went ahead and talking to him to calm down the temper and bless the prostitutes again. A profound dream marred the second instance.
