Biofuels and E-Fuels
Biofuels (Corn Ethanol)
Biofuels refer to any fuel produced from biomass, which might be algae, animal, or plant waste. In that light, corn ethanol is derived from corn biomass. Based on the Energy Information Agency, ethanol was used to power an engine for the first time in 1826. Corn ethanol is considered a biofuel by the United States Renewable Fuel Standard Program (RFS), which comes from corn kernel starch (U.S. Energy Information Administration). The production of corn ethanol has significantly increased since 2001, with around 9.5 billion corn bushels used. Currently, corn is the primary raw material used in producing ethanol in the United States of America (USA).
Corn ethanol was produced since it is a source of clean power or renewable energy. Unlike fossil fuels, including natural gas, coal, and petroleum, biofuels are environmentally friendly and effective for use. For example, they have contributed to global warming. In that light, the production of renewable energy from corn decreases the emission of greenhouse gases.
Currently, corn ethanol has become a vital energy source in the USA. Since corn is produced in the country, ethanol production from it has been increasing in the last few decades (Vo 259). The most significant thing that explains why the use of corn ethanol has increased is the move toward renewable energy sources. Many people have become environmentally conscious and they want to use corn ethanol since it does not pollute the air and environment compared to fossil fuels, which have been in use for many years.
People should understand that biofuels are the best alternatives to fossil fuels. For instance, corn is largely produced in the USA. On that note, the primary raw material for corn ethanol production is readily available. Since corn ethanol production does not emit more greenhouse gases than fossil fuels, it should be used to reduce the consequences of global warming.
The crucial terms that individuals need to understand in this topic are renewable energy sources, corn, fermentation, distillation, and greenhouse gases emissions. These words and phrases are important to know for people interested in biofuels. They explain the production process and the positive effects of corn ethanol production. For instance, corn ethanol can be used to power engines and reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, which has been the primary source of air pollution globally.
The topic of biofuels or corn ethanol significantly impacts the typical American. Many individuals have been affected by climate change or global warming adversely, including increased average temperature. However, the primary solution to negate the effects of global warming is by using renewable energy sources, such as corn ethanol. On that note, typical Americans would want to understand how to reduce air pollution by adopting the use of clean power as an alternative to fossil fuels. That is the reason these individuals are interested in biofuels.
People should care about the topic of biofuels. They should understand that using biofuels, including corn ethanol, decreases air pollution. Notably, the primary significance of biofuels is to counter ...
