Electric cars Vs. Petrol cars
Introduction
In today's automobile industry, there exist two types of cars that contemporary purchasers of vehicles should consider. There are hybrid or electric cars, and there are cars that only use petrol or diesel. For electric vehicles to be developed, some needs necessitated the improvement, for example, environmental and sustainability concerns. In this light, both electric cars and fuel cars are available in today's market. As much as the two products are available, they have different prices that stem from the buying prices and the maintenance prices. With the current trends in climatic and sustainability changes, electric cars' developments seem to have the answers to these problems (Wilberforce et al.40). Although electric vehicles tend to solve these miseries, there are some differences in both the operation price and the buying prices of these two cars' brands. This paper will examine the comprehensive analysis f the two brands of vehicles distinguishing reasons for and against buying the vehicle considering the costs involved in the maintenance and other expenses.
Analysis
For a potential customer to decide on which car to buy between the electric and fuel vehicles, they must consider the purchase price. In this regard, while purchasing an electric vehicle, the purchase price will be relatively higher than that of a fuel car. The main reason why electric cars will cost higher than fuel cars is that the batteries that the electric vehicles are made of areexpensive. They will cost up to 40 % of the car's total value (Wilberforce et al.40). With the high prices that the electric cars' battery sells to, it becomes expensive to buy an electric vehicle compared to fuel cars that sell without. For fuel cars, it is cheaper to buy because of the factor that makes the electric cars expensive; for example, the high cost of electric vehicles battery lacks in the fuel cars.
Consequently, electric cars' maintenance is expensive because there is little charging infrastructure for the electric vehicle along the highways than fuel filling stations. The percentages of people who drive fuel cars are higher than those who drive electric cars worldwide. Thus, there are many investments made on the fuel and gas filling stations than those that have been done on the charging infrastructure of the electric vehicles (Kley et al.39). It is also important to note that with the current shift of preferences in electric cars, most companies have decided to build charging spaces for their employees to use electric vehicles. Although some companies make charging facilities for their employees, the disparity in fuel prices and that which is used in assessing electric cars are very distinct. In this case, it is cheaper to charge an electric vehicle more than fuel a car that uses petrol pr diesel in the same distance of travel.
Besides, when comparing the servicing and maintenance cost for both the electric and fuel cars, the fuel cars need a lot of maintenance and serving because vehicles with combustion engines usually have more tear and wear parts than electric cars, and t...
