Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China, by Jung Chang, is a memoir that starts with the great grandfather Yang Ru-Shan at the end of the nineteenth century. Born in 1894, he was the only son of his dad. There was tremendous pressure for him to produce family heirs so that the family name might remain. Yang Ru-Shan marries a 20-year-old woman when he is fourteen years old. Nevertheless, she is just called "two girls," and she does not have a name. After one year of marriage, you have your first child – a daughter. Yu-Fang is named after her. Subsequently, the seven concepts of communication, creativity, perspective, representation, identity, culture, and transformation are connected in chapters 7 to 12.
In chapter 7, a group of folks moving south joins De-hong and her spouse. The communication concept shows how the journey is risky because the civil war continues to rage, and De-hong wondered if she would ever see her family again. The trains are broken down and trek large miles every day to reach Nanjing, their destination, for forty days (Chang 163). De-hong is quickly pregnant, though till she has miscarried, she does not recognize that. She is at an opera and asks Wang Yu to return her to his car's army camp. He refuses to declare that the performance is pleasing to his driver. When Wang Yu comes, she wanders back and is unconscious and bleeding on her bed. She was sent for emergency surgery and blood transfer to a hospital.
The concept of creativity and identity in chapter 8 shows how Chang Shouyu returned to his former name, having been designated a husband in Yibin. In a mansion confiscated by Communists, he and De-hong live together, and De-hong is delighted. It is the acme of the Chinese desire – to leave homelessness and "returning home robed in embroidered silk" (Chang 181). De-new hong's work consists of the Department of Public Affairs, and its main task is to feed the public. Fang-Yu travels from Jinzhou to Yibin to see De-hong, despite her bound feet and difficulties walking. She goes by herself, but she is a revolutionary mother with a passport. The journey takes almost two months and is challenging. According to Chang, De-hong is glad to meet her mother, but Chang Shou-yu does not, knowing that it does not match mother and daughter bondings (190).
