White Americans' Hold on Wealth is Old, Deep, and Nearly Unshakeable
When one thinks of segregation in America, one thinks of slavery, violence, and eternal hatred for black people. But the truth, as seen in Brentin Mock's article, is far from this. White families in America have for years preyed on the misfortune of black people. They have used their better state in society to advance themselves without any regard whatsoever for black people. Sure, today, things seem okay in terms of social integration and economic and political opportunities. Yet, as Mock writes, the credit system invented 100 years ago is still used today. African Americans today have no better access to credit facilities than they did a century ago. Although in 1975, the credit system was reviewed to allow for the provision of loans to African Americans, white families still receive privileged services. It is hard to think of when black people in America will genuinely ever be liberated from the shackles of the white man. For as seen in Mock's article, there is no equality. America has had its first black president, but the country is still a long way to become truly inclusive. Every country in this world is rigged with a particular disease that it cannot get rid of.
