Truth and False in 2 novels
The truth and the false are elements that are always subject to perception. Each situation defines a certain characteristic to existence, and the truth that we believe can sometimes actually be false. Things are not always what they seem and that every situation needs to be examined deeply and looked on from a wider perspective before arriving at conclusions about which is real. 2 stories that relate truth and false are Gulliver’s Travel and Frankenstein.
In Gulliver’s Travels, the protagonist goes on an adventure through different societies. He is able to glimpse how certain societies build their belief system. The Lilliputian’s show great commitment to honesty, and somehow turns ironic as the court created a deceptive plot against Gulliver. In another place called Glubbdubdrib, truth is explored through the concepts of reconnecting with the past, and exposing certain elements that are at the tip of the noses of the masses, about some theories and the English royalty. In Houynhnms, Gulliver witnessed a society that was purely honest, that they do not even have a word for lying. In these different settings, the concept of truthfulness was challenged by the decisions of the characters, and defined a deeper moral about free will and societal programming.
