According to my understanding or view, Work is whereby human activity contributes to creating the goods and services that make up an economy. Work covers the deliberate nature of the action and the desire to maintain one's standard of living. Therefore, Work is viewed as an accomplishment, a burden, and a punishment in the Bible during God's creation1. There was a sharp division between agricultural Work and Manual Work in classical Greece and Rome (chiefs, priests, and so on) ("Part 1: A Brief History of Work")1.
A Brief History of Work served as the beginning of The Ultimate Quest for the Meaning. The discussion then examined the idea of the evolving discourses on Work. It sought to determine how Work affected communities and cultures across time (and how they influenced it). For example, A new understanding of Work began to emerge with the beginnings of the Industrial Revolution. The concept of labor division started to mean something very different. The entire connection between people and their jobs were revolutionized by dividing Work by profession or specialty and task ("Part 3: When Work Became a Job")3.
