It is evident in the story of Peter that, as a young boy he feels left out among other siblings. He is the middle child in a family of fourteen. He thinks that the other siblings have sidelined him and for that reason, he has to stand for himself. Peter decides to go and feed on yummy vegetables grown by Mr. McGregor. Peter is unable to resist the temptation of the excellent food their neighbor has on the garden. Peter is not contented with the food her mother feeds them because they are not as good as the food grown by McGregor's. His brothers and sisters have no interest in disobeying their mother, who had warned them not to go to McGregor's garden. Tom and his brothers are waiting for their mother's friends to pay them a visit and mother decides to send them to the garden have she prepares tea for her friends. Their mother has warned them not to dirt themselves. Tom and her brothers head to the garden as instructed by their mother. At the garden, Tom and his other siblings dirt themselves and to the extent of losing clothes. Both Peter and Tom tales have depicted how boys grow up with mischievous acts of disobedience to their parents. Peter does not heed the instructions of her mother, and he returns home having eaten a lot of food and dreadfully frightened. He was chased away by McGregor from his garden because of stealing his vegetables and tampering with his fence. Tom and her brothers also disobey their mother's instructions and dirt and lose their clothes. After getting back, their mother takes to sleep, and they are not able to meet their mother's friends. Young boys depict some resistance when growing up because of their desire to have an adventure and the need to try new things. It's at this point in life parents should take charge and be strict to their children. In the two stories, the parents do not punish or depict their sadness for the boy's behavior.
