Please write about a scene that makes me feel lonely when studying abroad. I am a Chinese undergraduate student and now study in Minnesota. I came here two years ago. I live in an apartment by myself. You can write something about it is hard to make a foreign friend because not only of language but also culture. I study very hard and always get high GPA. The good thing is I have a good boyfriend who always encourages me. He is also a Chinese and study in Philadelphia, he always comes to see me on the weekend. I feel better because of him. My family and my boyfriend inspire me all the time.

Last Friday as I was queueing at Starbucks to get my coffee, I looked over my shoulder and saw two college students laughing heartily, and it made me feel homesick. I have been in Minnesota for two years, and I still struggle to fit it. I feel lonely, and the nature of American life make me feel lonelier. The culture is entirely very different from our Chinese culture and at that moment is stood there and felt homesick. All I longed for was to be in an environment with people who we shared the same values, beliefs, and culture, especially language. It is so hard to make American friends because of obvious differences in culture. As I looked over my shoulder to the two chatty and visibly happy lovebirds, I couldn’t help but hate everything in America and wish I could magically go back to China. And to be honest, I missed my boyfriend when I saw them holding ands as they queued on the next counter.
My boyfriend is Chinese. He lives in Philadelphia. We met in the United States, and I always feel he is the only person in the entire person who best understands me. We share the same values and culture and whenever we talk even over the phone is the only time, I do not feel that I am ‘mispronouncing’ any word or the person am talking to understands what I am saying.
