Success in college and university courses writing depends a lot on whether one can choose a worthwhile topic. More importantly, the writer needs to observe grammar and mechanics rules. Similarly, the writer should other discourse conventions. Thus, a writer must be clear and specific. The writer should convey to their audience that they think in the preferred way within that academic society. This aims at showing that you belong to that community.
In the introduction part of the writing, the writer should use rhetorical strategies to persuade readers. Do not start your writing with “Any form of…,” it is more appropriate to give examples. Similarly, show the audience that you know what you are talking about. Avoid phrases like “in my opinion…” (Walker et al., 2). The writer should announce their intention. For instance, “The purpose of this essay…” Similarly, “The ultimate motive of this topic…” is not appropriate as it is subjective. Objectivity should be observed all the time. It is also advisable for writers to use dictionaries to get the most appropriate definition of terms (Walker et al., 2). It is also advisable to have a thesis statement to guide the intent.
