Islam, Art, and Architecture in the Americas
The Islamic culture has widely spread across America due to the growing Islamic community. During the millennial years, after the spread of the Hegira Islamic culture in the Eastern countries, Islamic culture traces were not supposed to be found anywhere within the western countries ruled by either the Portuguese or the Spanish in the time between the modern American states' independence and the Columbus' first voyage. The Spanish leaders repeatedly refuted the Moors' immigration, even those who had recently changed their religion to Christianity together with their descendants and children (Kaufmann 42). The Spanish and the Portuguese disregarded the Islamic culture. They tried everything in their power to prevent Islam from being introduced and assimilated by countries they ruled on the western side.
The inquisition or top leaders worked to ensure that Americans only conformed to Christianity and practiced it as the only existing religion. Most extensive data shows that Islam activities are widespread in the current world and are signified physically by the many buildings established to allow Islam activities to occur. The many restrictions put in place by the Spanish and the Portuguese should have ensured that the Americans would not have felt Islamic cultural impacts. Instead, the Islamic religion was allowed after American states gained independence, and currently, it is widespread as the Americans have learned to be more appreciative of the Islam culture.
