Directions: Write a narrative essay that is at least two pages in length and that addresses the following prompt. Remember, two pages is the minimum and anything less including playing with margins and fonts will not be accepted. Be sure to upload your essay to Canvas prior to class. You will also need to include evidence of brainstorming by filling out the below questions that shows your thinking process. This outline or map must be typed.
What made you the person you are today? Write an essay that explains how something in your past changed your sense of who you are and what’s important to you. You can write about a person who had an impact on you, or you can write about an event that was memorable for you, or you can write about an important period in your life.
How to use narration: to support your thesis, tell a series of events in the order in which they occurred; narrate only the most important events; and use descriptive details and dialogue to illustrate important points

Narrative Essay
Life is like a journey showing us amazing scenes, every step of the way. As humans, we are like clay, and we shape into our collective experiences. It is every human's nature to face life's obstacles and acquire a desirable status. But that is not always the case. At times, one has to compromise to achieve what they want and that’s why in life, one may experience many ups and downs. As an individual, I want to see where this journey eventually leads me. Will I become a successful and infamous person who helps shape history or would I play a similar role like most people? I believe that there are multiple factors that go into making a person who they are. However, in my opinion, the key ones are environment, people, and experiences that differentiate one person from another. In other words, humans are like trees made of three parts: the root, trunk and fruits. The root is our primary family or heritage, and it makes us get ready to build our branch. At this phase, experiences help us acquire knowledge, which can then be transmitted to the next generation. The fruits are our offspring, and their health and prosperity depend on the first and second phases.
The environment a person grows up in and lives in their formative years plays a huge role in developing their beliefs and perspectives towards life, society, and the world in general. It is the very essence of why we live. It can include family, friends, the immediate community, school, teachers, etc. When one goes back to where they came from every once in a while, they begin to understand better where they should be headed.
