Literary Devices in Wandering Earth by Cixin Liu

Essay Instructions:

Please remember that it is not a research paper; I'd like you to think through these issues on your own.
As before, the most effective papers are those that identify a really important element, (such as the minimal treatment of everything in 'Little Things', storytelling in 'The Trout', inversion in 'Bloodchild') that becomes the central part of your analysis.
Everything such as length and format, thesis statements (being a summary of an analysis rather than a statement of intent), topic sentences and so on are the requirements of the first paper are the requirements for this one too.

Curse 5.0: Wandering Earth by Cixin Liu
Literary devices are essential tools that authors must never overlook when storytelling. The literary devices and elements add to the story by emphasizing specific ideas and creating solid emotions, feelings, and images. The book The Wandering Earth by Cixin Liu is a collection of stories; one of the stories in the novel is titled Curse 5.0. Cixin Liu employed literary devices throughout the story to keep her readers captivated and with a thirst to stay glued to the pages. The story concerns a woman who has experienced heartbreak. The woman turned her anguish into retaliation by using her programming expertise to create the "Curse" virus, which reveals her ex-lover's traits, other details about him, and derogatory remarks. The virus has caused problems for several users (Cixin 211). This story has literary devices such as self-insertion, simile, irony, metaphor, colloquialism, and foreshadowing. The literary devices are among the ingredients that make the book a masterpiece.
The first literary device from Cixin Liu's story is irony which is evident all over the final events of the story. Taiyuan is a place of technological advancement, with most aspects of its life being computerized. The electronic devices in Taiyuan are all controlled by the web. The story narrates that even the nail clippers are controlled digitally. The nail clippers have been digitally engineered to detect iron deficiencies. The nail clippers then send the data collected to s central server via mail. The operating system will then advise on proper nutritional diets to solve the deficiency.
Additionally, bottle openers in Taiyuan can check whether the alcohol has been legally sourced and licensed. The bottle opener can also monitor the drinking habits of a customer and stop the sale to an already drunk customer. Despite all the advancements in technology, the king of science only allowed manuscripts (Cixin 218). The name itself is ironic because how is a ministry of science not accept scientific innovations. In the ministry, nobody was even allowed to surf the internet.
Additionally, irony can be seen during Curse 3.0. Curse 3.0 was an advancement of Curse 2.0, which was an advancement of Curse 1.0. However, despite all the additional features in Curse 3.0 to make it more lethal and effective, the Curse never killed a single victim. The Curse was designed to kill Sa Bi by choking him to death while eating the system, so it fits or just. Curse 3.0 was also designed to be able to kill Sa Bi in the shower by scalding water. Sa Bi could be killed at home by the fire, on a plane during a flight, and at the hospital by toxic prescription. All the mentioned innovative scenarios failed to have even a single victim. Another irony is Curse 4.0, which killed its creator from a heart attack (Cixin 227). Curse 4.0 also killed the weaponizer.
It is also ironic the name Sa Bi was taken from an older man in the story who never used technology throughout his life. Sa Bi refers to those who used the technology in Taiyuan, highlighting the irony. The old man could use an old bike to move around and never used the internet. Cixin uses irony to make the reader stop and contemplate...
