Finally evaluate the following argument—which is logically valid—premise by premise. Copy and paste the argument itself into your paper, which should be at least 300 words not counting the argument, with a word count at the end. (Define “gratuitous suffering” as suffering that does not prevent greater suffering or produce pleasure that outweighs it.)
1. If an activity causes gratuitous horrific suffering, then that activity is morally wrong.
2. Raising animals on factory farms and killing them in slaughterhouses causes gratuitous horrific suffering.
3. Therefore raising animals on factory farms and killing them in slaughterhouses is morally wrong.
4. If an activity is morally wrong, then paying others to engage in that activity is morally wrong.
5. Therefore paying others to raise animals on factory farms and kill them in slaughterhouses—i.e. buying factory-farmed meat products—is morally wrong.

An act that brings about gratuitous horrific suffering is morally wrong. However, this will only be considered morally wrong if someone experiences it. A person can determine which is morally right and morally wrong. Also, a person has humane rights. Moreover, a person is capable of suffering.

No, it does not cause gratuitous horrific suffering. The right thing to do is raise animals on factory farms and kill them in slaughterhouses. Animals are meant to be raised and consumed.
