Impacts of the Me Too Movement
The Me Too Movement has brought significant changes in issues of sexism, gender discrimination, and the norms surrounding all forms of oppression. The campaigns have impacted the community positively as most people, and especially females, have gained independence. The movement aimed at rescuing and restoring women from the captivity of intimidation by men. The campaigns worked towards the eradication of sexual harassment and assault from the face of the world. This introduction came up to save women and young girls from the high prevalent occasions of sexual assault (Lee, 433). Most women from various parts of the world revealed their agony through discussions and interviews, triggering the start of the movement. Although the Me Too Movement has not eradicated the entire social issues in sexism and discrimination, the activists have achieved significant changes towards equality in the community.
I think that women have embraced significant shifts from sexism and sexual assaults. Most public institutions have incarnated policies to protect women against sexual harassment. The movement revealed the increase in the rates of sexual harassment and assault in various workplaces (Lee, 433). The issue raised the attention of the general public globally, resulting in immediate actions in an attempt to solve the problem. The movement iterated the issue by advocating for strict policies on harassment cases. Most firms have also installed emergency response points at various points in the workplace to ensure the safety of women. The female workers are also encouraged to report any cases of attempted assault to the right management for desired actions and protection. Consequently, harassment and assault based on gender have reduced significantly as the victims avoid the high charges incorporated into the activities.
The research carried out by the movement revealed that approximately 30% of women and 4% of men of the learning students in the United States suffered sexual harassment at school. Various trainees in medical schools complained of the assault and the movement taking the right action.
