Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. who is better known as “Bongbong Marcos” born on the 13th of September 1957, was the son of the late president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Much like his late father, Bongbong Marcos is a politician and a former Filipino senator. He also ran in 2016 as a vice-presidential candidate and had the support of many; however, even with the blessings of current president Duterte and late candidate Miriam Santiago (a renowned female former senator who died of cancer), he lost to current vice-president Leni Robredo. Before stating the urban legends surrounding Bongbong Marcos, urban legends will be briefly explained. Urban legends is generally a genre in folklore (modern) which uses stories which are mostly false to be spoken as true. Urban legends are deceptive and has tension between being credible and incredible. From the mid-1970s up until now, the Marcos family always faced numerous controversies since Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was known to be a notorious dictator yet there are many who supported him and his martial law movement or Imelda Marcos (his wife) paving the way for innovation on infrastructures such as the building of the National Kidney Institute and the Philippine International Convention Center was also corrupt by using tax payer’s money to buy her luxurious items such as her incredible collection of shoes, bags, dresses and the like. However, in this essay, the star of this controversy will be the most talked about rumor that encompassed Bongbong Marcos. As stated earlier, Bongbong Marcos is the son of Ferdinand Marcos Sr. but since the 1980s, it was alleged that the real Bongbong Marcos had passed. The legend talked about how Bongbong died in an accident in NCR, specifically Manila. He was even said to have died by the armed men whom abducted him in the Mindanao (one of the country’s three biggest regions). Other rumors such as him dying in London back when he was a teenager who studied there also escalated. The false allegations against Bongbong Marcos increased since the elections back in 2016. Before back in the 1970s, it was rumored that the real Bongbong was replaced by his cousin who at the time was tasked to undergo plastic surgery and take his place. There was even another...
