Do you think there's a connection between rural poverty and drug abuse?
After an in-depth review of the chapter, it is evident that there is a connection between rural poverty and drug abuse. The incidence and prevalence of drug abuse have skyrocketed over the years. People living below the poverty line have been adversely affected by this epidemic. Although it is difficult to visualize the correlation between drug uses by; people with no job or little income, this relationship displays in numerous ways. With the continuous increase in the number of poor people addicted to drugs, people living below the poverty line have limited access to social workers, rehabilitation centers, and treatment for their condition, which contributes to the drug menace in the US. Research conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) between 2004 shows that the average American receives $49,999 minimum wage annually. The CDC estimates that approximately 3.5 million per are likely to file for homelessness per year. Consequently, there was a 50% rise in heroin use among males and a 100% shift in females within the same period. Drawing insights from the respondent, it is evident that drug use among the homeless is prevalent between 18 and 25 years old.
Does extreme drug abuse make females more likely to be subject to sexual victimization?
Traditionally females become addicted to drugs quickly, and their experience varies from the males at a physical and psychological level. Apart from this, the cultural and societal impact is also another sphere that differs from the male counterparts. Females are more vulnerable to sexual victimization while under the influence of drugs. When consumed in high doses, alcohol and heroin can make people irrational, rogue, and violent. A study conducted by the Justice Department in 2007 shows that approximately 100,000 college girls who were raped were intoxicated. In addition, more than half of the colleges' sexual assault cases involved coercion and non-consensual consumption of alcohol by the victimizer or the perpetrator. From this perspective, there is a long-standing connection between female sexual victimization and drug use.

Yes, the respondent paints a clear picture of a polydrug user's physical, psychological, social, and cultural status. Polydrug users are vulnerable and at risk of contracting diseases, losing their jobs, being abandoned by their families, and having health complications. Statistics show that Polydrug users are highly likely to overdose due to the increased consumption of multiple drugs. Over the years, polydrug users have become a growing concern due to the high morbidity and mortality levels. In addition, poly users are highly likely to serve jail terms at one point in their lives.
